I am having a hard time understanding the play value of the Zhu Zhu hamsters. At under $10 I guess you get what you pay for. They look to be cheaply made and I'm wondering if the knock-offs would pass the new safety security. I have heard about people buying them off auction sites for $40-$50. For that amount of money I would opt for the WoWWee baby animals. http://uknowfact.com/toywishlist/wowweealive.htm

I gave my friend's 10-year-old daughter the baby seal for her birthday last week and she is in love with it.

I never would give a child a real hamster for Christmas. As a mother of six grown boys I know first-hand how quickly the hamster cage is neglected by the distractions of toys, games, and outings.

Forget the hamster, seal pups and koala babies are so much more fun!
