When President Obama read the classic Where the Wild Things Are at the Easter Egg Hunt today–he really got into the spirit of the book–and, in fact, several kids according to news reports started crying.
Not that I feel good about kids crying–but it reminded me that when my parents brought this book home to me, it had to be banished from my bedroom. It was way too intense for me.
I’m really hoping the movie gets good reviews! Same for Cloudy with a chance of meatballs.
As for the scary thing, that really varies in kids. My boys are hardly ever scared by anything, so I’m having a hard time getting my 5 year old to understand that he can’t watch Batman. I think it’s too dark and sinister for kids that age, but when I caught him watching it without permission (really need to figure out the tv parental controls!) he kept insisting he should watch it because he wasn’t scared. Meanwhile, one of his friends is scared by almost every kids show or movie. Go figure.
